To comprehend a better understanding of my project management I will firstly need to design and explain my concept & ideas. To begin, I have added all my early concept ideas and explained how I am going to develop my ideas further. I will also discuss the challenges faces & strategies employed.
Project management is the application of methods, processes, skills & knowledge to achieve a specific project. It requires completing specific tasks within the set timeframe by breaking down the tasks into smaller ones to stay on track to make sure the desired results is delivered on time. Methods such as the waterfall method where the progress flows in one direction as each stage needs to be completed before moving on to the other, like a waterfall. This helps visualise a workflow and breaks the project into stages.
The challenges faced

VR/OpenBrush
Diving into the world of virtual reality has been an intriguing experience but does have its share of challenges. From adjusting to my virtual environment to technical issues, VR has been the biggest challenge in my project. Wearing a VR headset for the first time is like stepping into another dimension. I quickly had to adjust to the immersive environment whilst also interacting with the environment using the controllers. When first accessing Open Brush I had to learn the interface and how the app works. What I realised was Open Brush was very similar yet different to painting in real life. It is similar as you had to use hand gestures to paint & sculpt designs however the experience was very new to me as I had to paint in A 3D environment with digital tools. Being able to have the same level of precision compared to painting in real life with physical tools was also a challenge. To make it easier for me to paint I have practiced with all tools, paints & effects to explore & apply a range of mediums onto my final pieces .
Adobe Aero
Image 2 – I had to learn the complex ways of making my AR interactive with animations. Image 3 – When using the app I needed to scale my assets to fit the landscape. Image 4 – I had to scale assets so they are tilted to the right angle.
The best part of using Adobe Aero is getting to see my Open Brush paintings in augmented reality within the convenience of my own living room or wherever I am. With Adobe Aero I am able to watch my designs interact with the real world. The challenges faced when using Adobe Aero is trying to integrate other assets I have created onto the app. The first challenge of using Aero is to figure out how the application works, I have resolved this challenge by practicing with Adobe’s beginner assets. Once I have my asset I was able to rotate, scale & size the asset to my liking. I also explored “Behaviours” which allows me to add interactions, this was the most difficult part of the process because of the complexity of the interactions. To make it less complex I have started off with simpler interactions before moving to the advanced ones. In order to create a sequence of animations, I to add ‘Behaviours’ onto a timeline so the animations play out in order.
Sketchfab
Image – Sketchfab homepage Image – A variety of pre made assets are displayed for the user to browse/ purchase.
Sketchfab is a web-based platform that lets you view, upload & share content, it hosts as a place to view 3D models created by users which is showcased in an interactive & immersive way such as zooming, panning & rotating to provide a comprehensive view of the model. Additionally, users can sell or purchase 3D models. Artists can also receive feedback of their 3D creations from the community and can collaborate with other designers. This is a place where 3D assets can be viewed in a convenient & accessible manner. Using Sketchfab would be a good idea to use as I can import some 3D assets to my AR experience. However, to make my emerging technology project as original as possible I will be using little to no pre made assets to make more space for my own creations. I have made the decision to not use any pre-made assets as I have been discussing with my peers that I am capable of painting my own 3D creations.
Overall in conclusion project management has helped to achieve my goal by helping me identify the challenges I have faced in my project & the milestones I have completed.
