4.) Conceptual Energy Drink Animation Storyboard

“The storyboard’s primary example is that forces you to have a reason for, and consistent approach to, everything you do.”

– David Becker

After designing the name, packaging and design of my energy drink I have designed I then wanted to create a storyboard for my stop-motion energy drink for seniors. I want my concept to advertise & reflect what exactly the brand name is all about. I have come up with a couple storyboards which will introduce my energy drink. Before creating a storyboard I have looked at some examples for ideas to get me started.

Figure 1 – Here is an example of creator Jim Allison creating a storyboard for Monster energy drink. The storyboard shows a zombie apocalypse where a survivor drops a drink from the vending machine which rolls towards a zombie who then drinks it. The next scene shows the Monster logo with the survivor playing & hanging out with the fellow zombies.

A storyboard is a visual graphic organiser that contains a series of images that are displayed in a sequence Storyboarding is the best way for your visuals to be shared therefore it saves time and makes it easier to create your production. These sequences are broken down into different panels

Figure 2 – Zappo energy drink storyboard concept. In this comic- style storyboard a tired man goes to the local shop to buy an energy drink which results in him having a buzz & springing back into action after consuming the drink.

These two examples show correct use in storyboard telling. You can clearly see the point they are trying to make without any text or speech needed. I picked these two examples specifically as the storyboards are based around advertising an energy drink.

Figure 3 – My storyboard idea for my Substance Stager animation.

After taking inspirations of existing storyboards I have developed my own storyboard which I will be creating on the Substance software. My storyboard concept I have done is of a blank can lying on the floor, it then gets zapped by a lightning bolt and gets turned into the Recharge concept packaging then the next few scenes show the energy drinks transition into different flavours. The ending scene shows the drink, logo & slogan displayed. This would be a good idea for my final piece as it gets straight to the point on what type of drink I am marketing as I want my stop motion to show that Recharge is branded to give you a boost of energy.
