For this part of my blog I am going to discuss about how I have considered ethics & values in my production piece. I am going to be discussing the meaning of ethics & values and how emerging technology needs to include them for a better outcome.
Ethics first, Values always
What are ethics?
Ethics refers to a system of accepted rules to consider what is right and wrong, to be ethical means behaviour that aligns with what is considered to be morally right or good, To be unethical means the opposite. It is important be be & to consider ethics and values as it ensures responsible innovation. Having values are the things that you believe are important in the way you live and work. Your personal values are a central part of who you are – and who you want to be. For example, some of life’s decisions are really about determining what you value most, when many options seem reasonable, you can rely on your values to point you in the right direction. Ethics and values in emerging technology
Having ethics & values in emerging technology is important as it makes sure new advancements prioritise people’s trust, wellbeing & treats everyone fairly. This helps prevent harm, protects privacy and encourages responsible behaviour making it user friendly and makes sure technology benefits society in a positive & sustainable way.
There are challenges in VR ethics such as:
- Health risks
- injuries
- motion sickness
- peoples phobias
These are dangers that need to be considered in virtual reality as they can make the users at risk, this is why ethics & values need to be considered in emerging technology as emerging technology affects people so it needs to responsibly navigate the impact of new advancements.
How have I incorporated ethics & values into my work?

I have used ethics in my project with the topic of my theme, I have explored nature and wildlife by projecting it onto augmented reality to give a different perspective. I have animated a type of world that works with nature, I have done this by portraying the benefits of having a good coexistence with nature & man made environments with promoting bees and other wildlife species in an urban setting. I have tried to show compassion in my creative ideas for nature and the impact on our environments in a positive & productive way by adding facts about each creature using speech bubbles that I have created through Adobe Illustrator and then exporting them onto Adobe Aero . Another consideration as to how my project is ethical is that it is accessible, not only you can quickly access nature through AR but it is also inclusive as AR is a good way to include an educational experience, making nature exploration and learning accessible to people of all backgrounds, ages & abilities.
Overall I have took ethics & values into consideration with my project as the whole topic itself is about the ethics & values in our eco system, what also adds to this is I have made my facts as accurate as possible by using research beforehand so that there is no misinformation.
