The characteristics to describe kitsch are cheap, cutesy, poor taste, available everywhere, worldwide, recognisable, nostalgic, retro, colourful

Everything you see in Kitsch has no deeper meaning. Everything on the surface could be seen. For example, you could walk into a living room and you’d be presented with a ‘Kitsch’ puppy ornament. Although its mass produced and looks relatively cheap something about the ornament give a ‘cuteness’ factor to it. More than often these type of art is produced without effort and bought without thought. It creates this fake emotion, tricking the buyer into thinking there is deep emotion to the object, but isn’t. Although is it technically a form of art people consider Kitsch ‘Fake art’ and it is not easy to avoid as it looks due to its aesthetic pleasure.
