For this first task we have to create a step-by step instructions manual with any design option of our choice. I wanted to design a leaflet that is simple yet fun to look at. I have to design a PDF for the following:
- Make a backup using a WordPress plugin such as Updraft
- Protect your site using a WordPress plugin
- Review encryption using Box Cryptor
- Install Elementor
The important components to creating an instruction manual is to provide logical, numbered steps for the reader to follow. When it comes to my manual I have chosen designs that are not too over complicated as instruction manuals are designed to be easy to read. On the other hand I have been asked to design a manual that doesn’t look too plain. I have done this by creating a theme for each topic and chose colour & typography to go along with it. I have sectioned each step with numbers to make it easier for the user to follow. Furthermore I have considered the use of spacing out my information so visually my designs aren’t all crammed together. I have took inspiration from kids toys instruction manuals. I have taken inspiration by using bright colours such as blue or yellow to make my manual fun to look at. For each manual design I have added the logo each plugin website on each page with a slogan and a title for each topic to give the reader an idea of what all of this is about.
For Word fence I have took inspiration from kids toys instruction manuals. I have taken inspiration by using colourful typography, curvy font types and the use of numbers. I have chosen brighter colours to make my design outcomes stand out, I have made this the theme match with the other manual designs. For the Word fence manual design I have added arrows to visually guide the viewer with the imagery I have presented so it doesn’t confuse the viewer.
For Updraft I went with an orange theme with the background to suit the logo. I gave a brief introduction of what Updraft is and why it is useful for your WordPress site, with screenshots from the website of more details and the link to the website if they wish to view. On the next page I have added the instructions for the reader to follow.
For Box Cryptor I have chosen a green theme to match the logo and website of Box Cryptor. I have used both my mobile phone & PC to show how to Download & encrypt using Box Cryptor. I have numbered the images step by step to show you where you need to go when following the steps.
The Elementor manual I have created a background made up of abstract shapes with different shades of purple. I have done this to suit the theme of Elementor as the branding and Elementor’ s logo is mainly purple. Like the other manual designs I have explained what Elementor is, provided images/screenshots and provided instructions.
